Greetings to all ancestor seekers! It is a great privilege for me to serve as Governor of the Kansas-Missouri Company of the Jamestowne Society, and on behalf of its members, I am pleased that you are visiting our website. We hope that your visit indicates an interest in becoming a member of the Jamestowne Society, or that you may already be a member and are now looking for a Company to join. Our Kansas Missouri Jamestowne Society members live not only in Missouri and Kansas, but also, several commute from Nebraska to attend our spring and fall meetings. In addition, some applicants travel from Illinois and Iowa, and they are not, yet, members. We hope you will also join us.

As you know, a good deal of reading and research goes into genealogy. In this process, we often become much more than genealogists for our search sometimes takes us back prior to the reasons for the settlement of Jamestowne. Actually, we become historians because a search of historical records often takes us beyond just dates and locations. Our luncheon speakers concentrate on historical events and cultural facets that increase our knowledge of the Jamestowne era. This helps us better understand what our Jamestowne ancestors were like and how they lived four hundred years ago.

The task of searching for ancestors is an ongoing project, but what a joy it is to discover an elusive ancestor and then discover that this person, related to you by blood and marriage, contributed so much to establishing this great Nation of ours.

We welcome new members and prospective members to our meetings, and we are eager to find ancestors that we may mutually share. Indeed, we often become united in family as ‘kindred spirits’.
